About Noa
Based in Toronto, Noa Im is a multidisciplinary artist working in video, installation, and photography. She holds a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design in New York, an MA in Fine Arts from Chelsea College of Arts in London, and an MFA in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University.
In recent years, her work has centered on video and filmmaking, where she explores the complex relationship between history and personal experiences. She focuses on how these narratives are reshaped over time, a process of recontextualization where layers of meaning are continuously transformed in response to shifting political landscapes through different temporal lenses.
Her short essay film, Looking through the Binoculars, (2021) which explores the intricate themes such as borders, ideology, and South Korean military tourism. This film garnered recognition at several international film festivals.
In 2022, she was honored as the recipient of the Breakthrough Rogers CBC award from the Doc Institute.
